Vision Statement

The vision of Pleasant View Elementary School Counseling Program is for all students to depart empowered with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve academic, social/emotional, and career success, as well to reach their fullest potential as respectful, responsible citizens with positive self-regard. 

Mission Statement

The mission of the Pleasant View Elementary School Comprehensive School Counseling Program is to advocate for an environment that supports high achievement for all students and decreases barriers to learning, allowing students to become effective learners, responsible citizens, and productive members of a global workforce.  In collaboration with other educators, our families, and our community, this comprehensive school counseling program will maximize student potential and enable all students to experience educational success by providing preventative and responsive services in the areas of academic, career, and social/emotional development to help students overcome challenges that interfere with learning in order to reach their fullest potential. 

Belief

The elementary counselors of Cheatham County believe: 

  • a school counselor’s primary role is to advocate for students 
  • all students deserve equal advocacy, as all have dignity and worth 
  • each student can achieve academic, social and emotional, and career success when given appropriate and timely support and interventions, as well as rigorous and relevant instruction 
  • school counselors adhere to the standards of the Tennessee Comprehensive School Counseling Model and Standards Policy 
  • all students will have equitable access to a comprehensive school counseling program delivered by a credentialed school counselor 
  • the school counselors will use data to design, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve the comprehensive school counseling program 
  • the school counselors will collaborate with students, families, stakeholders, and community partners to meet students’ needs 
  • the Comprehensive School Counseling Program helps build a positive school environment by encouraging collaboration among counselors, students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the community to further student achievement 
  • school counselors pursue opportunities to develop their professional competencies to ensure the provision of a quality school counseling program 
  • the school counselors abide by the ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors
